I started it a few months and have sold none. Maybe if you put up a lot of posters, fliers and/or business cards, it may work for you. . . . I think for the time you would have to invest, it would not be worth it. . . . Just my thought on it.

Un less your business is incorporated, DBA or not, there is just one return – your business income is shown as part of your personal return.

If you have a business loss and have other income also, then if you have a business loss it is netted out on your form 1040 with your other income.

You probably do need a license if you plan to sell food commercially. The try the municipal, county or state commerce department and they should be able to tell you what you need. And yes, you will likely have to pass a health inspection.

I too was trying to break into the online world. I have home businesses that are doing alright, but wanted to earn an income online as well. The problem was I really didn't know anything about online marketing.
I bought mostly all ebook and course out there, but I just couldn't get the big picture, there was always pieces missing.
I was given a little direction from a marketer who has earned over 2 million this year already. He's put together a very valuable course that even a child could learn. . . . which is exactly what I needed. What I like about his course is that he explains mostly all possible avenue of online marketing, then shows videos where you are actually looking over his shoulder. Every detail is explained and you can put the information to work right away.
I have to say that it's probably the best way to learn as he has left no stone unturned. He answers emails personally and promptly so if you get stuck, he shows you what to do.
